MCIWS In my pervious two posts good indigenous rifle still a dream for indian army & army dumps excalibur rifle says needs more lethal gun I discussed why India still has not provided a good indigenous gun to Indian army. I pointed the problems and how the army is in love with imported weapons and some high rank corrupt officials do not want to use indigenous guns and sabotage & delay those projects so that they can make money out of weapon deals. RAFALE DEAL - BREAKING THE DEAL

RAFALE FIGHTER Few weeks ago a much awaited intergovernmental deal was finally inked between India and France for acquisition of 36 Rafale fighters. The deal costs 7.8 billion euros or about 58,000 crore INDIAN RS. The negotiations for the deal started about 18 months ago when PM MODI visited France and started this intergovernmental deal for acquisition of 36 fighters. The initial price which France was asking for was 12 billion euros which India side after negotiations bought down to 7.8 billion euros, and saved about 4.2 billion euros or around some 30,000 crore Indian rupees. After this deal was signed a lot of posts were seen floating on social media and I too came across many posts which claimed that it's some kind of SCAM and the fighters are being bought at very very high rates. Army's RFI for 7.62x51 mm Standard Issue Rifle

In my last post "NEW STANDARD ISSUE RIFLE FOR ARMY - THE ENTIRE STORY" (link to post) I discussed how for years army has been trying to induct a new standard issue rifle but has failed due to their inability to stick with the desired requirements they quote, to be true army till now had so much expectations from a standard issue rifle that no single weapon in world could fulfill all their requirements. Also till now army was unable to decide the caliber which it required, at times they wanted one which uses 5.56 mm and then they wanted a gun which can fire a 7.62 mm round & they even tried to induct multi-caliber guns which can fire various caliber rounds by just changing the barrel and upper receiver & wanted the ability to do the change in a few minutes but no weapon was able to fulfill such requirements or pass the stringent tests which IA threw at them as part of trials. IAF order of Airbus C-295 - Step Towards Modernization

IAF which is trying to replace its old fleet of aircraft with modernized aircraft is trying to fill the gaps be it fighter aircraft or transport aircraft. One such step in this modernization is order of Airbus C-295W jet. IAF has wanted to replace its fleet of 59 AVRO aircraft/Hawker Siddeley HS 748 transport aircraft. Hawker Siddeley HS 748/AVRO AIRCRAFT These AVRO aircraft have been in service within IAF for decades and IAF for years have been wanting to replace these with a more modern platform and few years back Airbus CASA C-295W.
