Patakha vs ballistic helmet

PATAKHA (pic 1)

Often argued by so many so called experts and pubg elites as inferior and "shitty equipment" and useless PATAKHA are highly safe headgear for soldiers.

I have repeatedly pointed out how the DESI JUGAAD of PATAKHA has proven itself in countless operations and attacks.

Patakha are headgear which provide excellent head protection from ahead and nearly 360 except from the top which is nothing but a basic cloth and little padding. A patakha is so effective that in occassions it has even taken a direct hit from terrorist ak 47 ammunition and still have protected the soldiers from any penetration or major injury. Yes a patakha has effectively stopped a 7.62x39 ammunition and has saved the life of the wearing soldier.

This is one reason why soldiers in QRT and CT forces often prefer patakha over old and often new ballistic helmets.

BALLISTIC  HELMETS (pic 2 )

2 years ago IG cleared procurement of initial batch of some 1.67 lakh ballistic helmets from Indian manufacturer MKU. Since then a lot of these have been delivered and are more and more visible with soldiers.  The ballistic helmets are light and modular and allow mounting rails for optics and other accessories. The advantage of ballistic helmet is that these are light weight and allow modularity. These can be configured as per their requirements. These also have padding and other protective layers which protect soldier from the trauma of impact or hit. These provide adequate protection all around and from top and are capable of stopping a pistol cal round at short ranges and a ricochet or rifle rounds at certain distances and angles.

PATAKHA VS NEW HELMETS

•Patakha provide frontal and side protection from rifle rounds but have no top protection and do not have padding etc for trauma protection like ballistic helmets have

•Ballistic helmets are light and modular and can be modified as per user requirements

•Patakha have no provision for mounting rails or accessories which are essential for night and long ops as soldiers require both hands in situations as shown in pic 3.
