Back in 2017-18 earlier ofb showcased a 155/45cal truck mounted dhanush gun but now they have unveiling a 155/52 cal truck mounted gun system.
The system is cheaper and a much versatile alternative to tracked SPA like k9.
Although k9 offer better dessert and off road capabilities but they have their own setbacks. The truck mounted guns are easier to deploy & transport & are much suited for shoot & scoot which means they can be set up to hit enemy and then immediately moved from the strike position to protect from enemy retaliation.
Seeing the caliber its safe to assume a 40 kms+ range with special BB ( base bleed) shells and this can cause havoc in enemy camps, to convoys and positions.
Indian army has lacked in SPA/SPH earlier but with induction of k9 and a buffet of artillery guns produced by PSU & PRIVATE players in country, India is now one of the leader in artillery guns & now the expensive imports can not be justified.
Fast trials of these systems should be conducted and they should be prioritised over imports with desired improvements if any needed to be done to subsequent batches.
