RAFALE FIGHTER Few weeks ago a much awaited intergovernmental deal was finally inked between India and France for acquisition of 36 Rafale fighters. The deal costs 7.8 billion euros or about 58,000 crore INDIAN RS. NEW STANDARD ISSUE RIFLE FOR ARMY - THE ENTIRE STORY

In past Indian Army has issued and cancelled of lot of RPF especially related to Standard Issue Rifles. One of the issues DRDO & ARDE have faced during the development of indigenous rifles is that IA has changed its requirements from time to time. During 80's army asked DRDO to develop 5.56x45 caliber rifles which was the preferred caliber for standard issue rifles at that time to replace its old SLR rifles which used 7.62 mm ammunition. Then DRDO came up with the Insas Rifle which was made as per army's drafted requirements (5.56x45mm, single and burst fire only,transparent magazines etc) and the rifle was tested and accepted into the forces. This is how the osint b.s started about tank movement across border, India doing attack on POK and what not. Let me tell you nothing such is happening ( large scale cross border movement, the artillery firing and the damage to pak infra is true but nothing as serious as feb to sep thing). There can be many reasons for the fencing thing. One of which is that the fencing is being replaced. It is nothing new, the snow the rains etc often destroy fences and even at times sweep them away so they have to be replaced time and time again. The geography along the border or LOC is versatile with their own issues and many natural obstacles like hundreds of naalas, ditches , rivers etc. This makes it difficult to fence then entire border anyway. MCIWS - Multi Caliber Individual Weapon System THE FUTURE COMBAT RIFLE OF INDIAN ARMY

MCIWS In my pervious two posts good indigenous rifle still a dream for indian army & army dumps excalibur rifle says needs more lethal gun I discussed why India still has not provided a good indigenous gun to Indian army. Multi Caliber Individual Weapon System (MCIWS) is a new assault rifle developed by ARDE Pune which is a wing of DRDO. This gun was unveiled by DRDO at Defence Expo in 2014. DRDO NETRA AEW&CS - THE EYE IN THE SKY

DRDO during AERO INDIA 2017 handed IAF India's very own AEW&CS aircraft which was named DRDO NETRA (not to be confused with drdo netra drone). The airforce inducted the AEW&C aircraft after testing and operational trials and 2nd aircraft is undergoing trials and is slated to be inducted soon. The Indian systems are mounted on the Brazilian EMBRAER ERJ 145 platform. The radar system, datalink and all the subsystems are fully indigenous and are developed by various DRDO laboratories.
