NAG SUCCESSFULLY TEST FIRED AGAIN, INDUCTION INBOUND

Indigenous NAG anti-tank guided missile (link) was again test fired at firing ranges in Rajasthan. Two rounds of the missile were fired against two targets which were placed in different ranges and under different conditions and the missiles successfully intercepted the target with great precision.

The missile was also test fired in JUNE 2017  (Indigenous NAG Anti Tank Missile Successfully test fired) during which it successfully demonstrated its capabilities to work inn extreme heat and hot weather conditions and was also test fired last year where it proved its capability of engaging the target placed at max range (4 kms for land variant) during night.

These successful trials have proved that NAG is all weather day-night capable ATGM which has a very high single shot kill probability which is capable of engaging & destroying armoured vehicles and modern enemy tanks.

The missile has following variants-

  • NAG- land variant which is fired from launcher mounted on bmp 2 chasis called NAMICA .Range 4 kms.
  • HELINA- it means HELICOPTER LAUNCHED NAG(HeLiNa). It can be fired from both HAL RUDRA & HAL LCH and has range of 7 to 8 kms .
  • Aircraft launch version and Man portable version are under development and will have range of 10 kms and about 3-4 kms respectively.

The technologies incorporated in the missile have been developed indigenously and with the successful trials now the missile is ready for induction in armed forces. We can expect the induction of missile to happen soon as army requires NAG missile to replace the older anti tank missiles and to compliment the newly bought Spike missiles.
