ASTRA BVR MISSILE : FINAL TEST

As I reported earlier that Astra BVR MISSILE ( link to another post) which was seemingly heading for Commercial Production ( link ) and amazingly was ahead of its schedule witnessed a setback when during test on 8 December this month it witnessed a problem. During the test 2 missiles were fired from Su 30 MKI and the one missile out of the two developed a problem. The missile as soon as it was fired lost its speed and and had a nose dive and it hit the ground of the test range where it was being tested and exploded making a loud noise which was heard by people who live near the testing area. They even after being habitual of missile fire and testing said that the explosion was quite different and more louder than what they normally hear.

So after that test witnessed a snag army decided to do one more test of Astra before induction and starting the commercial production of the missile. According to sources Astra is set for another firing test on Monday to ensure that it is ready for induction.

Hopefully the tests will go well and commercial production of missile will start as scheduled in this same month. I will write another post when testing is done and results are told.
